WESTERN TRAIN RELAUNCHED The illuminated Western Train 733+734 was relaunched at a private ceremony on Thursday 14th May at Harrowside on South Promenade. The ceremony was attended by actor Stephen Tomkinson along with officials from Blackpool Transport. It is now planned that the trams will be used in an educational programme for five local schools.
Bryan Lindop, of Blackpool Transport, said: “The schoolchildren will be coming to look round the depot and see the work we do there and then they will get on board the Western tram and we will give them an insight of the history of the tram itself. This will mean youngsters can have their lessons in an exciting environment, it will really bring it to life. They will be learning about trams, but able to physically see one and touch one. The carriage has had its interior restored back to its original decor from 1928. It features exquisite mahogany panels and detailed 1920's style light-shades."

| British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email. |
