UPDATE ON LUT 159 RESTORATION…AND SOME EXTRAS!
Crich Tramway Village – Sunday 25th May 2008

Work is continuing on the restoration of London United Tramways 159 at Crich with two bogies and two motors recently retrieved from the Clay Cross store. The two bogies were ex Blackpool plate frame type (the same as under Rack 2)but the frames are corroded away in places. The last of the side frames has now arrived and a quote received for the machining of them. And now for two very special photos...

Special tram 1: Blackpool OMO 5 outside the Clay Cross store. The tram moved to Derbyshire in 2000 and looks much the same eight years later with windows still missing, maybe one day we will see the tram run again, as after all it is a pretty unique tram in the national collection.

Special tram 2: And for some they don’t get any more special than this - Blackpool Dreadnought 59. It is now 13 years since 59 left Crich for the store and some would like to see the tram restored to operational condition. Looking rather grubby the tram is seen within the building at Clay Cross.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
