It doesn’t seem an update of British Trams Online goes by nowadays without news of more Blackpool trams finding new homes! As briefly mentioned on the homepage at the last update Crich have revealed that a further four (or five if you prefer!) trams have been donated to them from Blackpool Transport, namely Brush 630, Centenary 648, Twin Car 672+682 and Jubilee 762.
Of the trams 648 and 762 will be released to the national collection after 2015 – because of their “book” value, 630 will be available after November 2011 and 672+682 will be available by 2012. It has also been revealed that Boat 607 is expected to arrive at Crich in October 2010 once its loan at Beamish is over whilst Balloon 712’s arrival is expected imminently.
All four trams are still believed to be in operational pools in Blackpool and are expected to continue in this vain until the end of traditional tram operation at the end of the 2011 season, as all will be able to be fitted with transponders to operate traffic lights in the northern part of the system.
It is not yet known what Crich’s plans are the latest acquisitions.
