DOUBTS EXPRESSED OVER TRAM SUNDAY AGAIN
Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway – Sunday 7th March 2010

As seems to be usual practice for the early part of the year nowadays doubts have been expressed over whether the Fleetwood Transport Festival (“Tram Sunday” if you prefer) will take place in 2010, this time over funding. When the story originally broke the organisers were saying they had a £16,000 shortfall, although this is now reported as being down to £5,000.

If the event is to take place this year – scheduled for Sunday 18th July (and if it does go-ahead British Trams Online will have our most comprehensive ever coverage for the event) – all the money must be on the table by tomorrow (Monday 8th March).

Fleetwood Town Council have pledged to make up the difference of funding – up to a maximum of £4,000 – after an emergency meeting. And another £7,000 has also been pledged.

Iain Johnstone, Festival Life President, said: “It's clearly a positive message and I hope other things will come with it. It's a big step in the right direction."

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
