DELAYS AFTER PLASTIC SHEET GETS CAUGHT IN OVERHEAD AT MIDDLEWOOD
South Yorkshire Supertram – Sunday 29th March 2009

On Monday 23rd March there were slight delays to trams just outside of the Middlewood terminus on South Yorkshire Supertram after a large piece of plastic became tangled in the overhead wires. Trams were allowed to carry on operating but only a very low speed. The Supertram maintenance team had to get help from a passing TV repair van with a ladder to gain extra height to drag the plastic clear! Read on for a couple of photos from the incident.

Two images at Middlewood. The first shows a tram’s pantograph slowly getting through the sheeting whilst the second shows the attempted rescue of the sheet using a pole with 120 in the background.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
