HEATON PARK TRAMWAY UPDATE
Heaton Park Tramway – Sunday 22nd March 2009

A brief news round-up from the Heaton Park Tramway including updates on all the trams at the tramway which is now open every Sunday throughout the year (except Christmas/New Year) between 1200 and 1600 in the winter and 1200 and 1700 in the summer (full details of dates of operation are available on their website here). Read on for the news update and a few photos too!

Leeds 6 continues to be the Winter service car. It has operated each weekend since returning to service with no problems.

Work has concentrated on the roof of Manchester 765, which is now repainted and the clerestory windows which are being refurbished. Some remedial work is being undertaken to the outside seats.

The interior of Blackpool Railgrinder 752 is being refitted as a workshop. Work continues on replacing the worn out resistors and the body is now complete in green primer.

Work on Manchester L53 is concentrated on trying to finish the lining which did not get finished before the launch last year. The tram is due to make its first visit away from Heaton Park since restoration in May when it will visit Beamish for a couple of days of operation (see story on Heaton Park events for 2009).

Town planners take note - the new Tram Lane at Heaton Park giving Trams priority over other road users!

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
