BLACKPOOL TRACKWORK UPDATE – AND TRAMS BACK ON PROM!
Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway – Sunday 16th March 2008

Trams have returned to the Prom as testing commences of the new track - Brush 626 was the first to hit the track on Friday 14th March with several others making an appearance the following day. It is looking likely that a service will be operated from Friday 21st March (Good Friday) but only as far as Cabin with trackwork still taking place further – although floodlights have now been fitted with night-time work taking place on the Colas Rail site north of Cabin. Read on for the latest trackwork update.

Pleasure Beach:
A small section awaits surfacing but the rest of the track and overhead seems to be done. Work has been concentrating on pavements.

Manchester Square to Central Pier:
This location appears complete with Unimog 938 on site with the overhead in place at the north crossover with the south one remaining unwired.

Gynn Square to Cabin:
All the rail is now in place and connected as far as Cabin crossover after the installation of the connection at Gynn (on sleepers) and removal of the works crossing at Cabin. Most of the surfacing has been done.

Cabin to Bispham:
Joining section to tramway rail awaited at Cabin. Ballasting is in progress and the track appears connected at Bispham.

Bispham:
All track is now in place with the centre and southbound lines now completed. Overhead has yet to be fitted for the new crossover.

Bispham to Norbreck
Sleepers are now in place for around half of the southbound line.
