BEAMISH REVEAL AMBITIOUS TRAM PLANS FOR 2010
Beamish Museum – Sunday 21st June 2009

2009 may not even be half way through but Beamish have already revealed their hopes and aspirations for 2010, including more visiting trams and a special repaint.

With the visit of Manchester L53 such a success for this years Power from the Past event last month they are already looking ahead to the 2010 event and it looks like the theme will be “Corporations and Contractors” with a focus on service and maintenance vehicles – this may include the loan of Leeds 6 from Heaton Park and another unnamed tram from elsewhere and the possible repaint of Blackpool 31 into its engineering green so it can be paired with tower wagon Blackpool 749.

31 is expected to return “home” to Blackpool for the 125th anniversary celebrations in the September and in return Beamish are hoping to get a Boat Car to keep the tram fleet numbers up.

Obviously all the usual caveats apply – all this information is unconfirmed and will be subject to agreements being reach and availability. The Beamish Blog (link below) is the place to find out the news as and when it happens, but if only a small amount of these initial plans come off it is sure to be a great year at Beamish!

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
