BEAMISH TRAMWAY UPDATE
Beamish Museum – Sunday 14th June 2009

Now that the excitement of the visit of Manchester L53 to Beamish has died down (full reports here and here with photos here) we can turn our attention to a news update on other tramway items at the Museum. Read on for news on Sunderland 16 and Blackpool 749.

The wheelsets of Sunderland 16 have been returned to the Museum after being turned and are being prepared for reassembly into the truck. Various works have been carried out to the electrical systems and air brake system and some body and paintwork repairs are due to start soon.

Blackpool Tower Wagon 749 has been moved within the Regional Museum Store to enable some new objects to be added to the collection. This enabled the Transport team at Beamish to have a look at it – with a view to bringing it out for a very special and rare outing with Blackpool 31.

* Also on the blog is a video – “Life of a Tram: A trip to Beamish Town. Running for just over six minutes this short video does exactly what it says on the tin – featuring Newcastle 114 running to the town at Beamish! To view it click here.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
