COUNCIL LAND TO BE SOLD TO HELP FUND TRAMS
Trams for Edinburgh – Sunday 22nd June 2008

Five plots of council land are to be put up for sale by the City of Edinburgh Council – and it is hoped that £10 million will be raised to aid the construction of the Trams for Edinburgh project. Most of the land will be sold for housing and is on the route of the Newhaven to Airport route.

Plots of land to be offered for sale are:
* Waste ground at Broomhouse Drive and Bankhead Drive
* fomer lorry park off Constitution Street
* old bus garage off Leith Walk
* land around Balgreen Primary School

Cllr Phil Wheeler, transport leader on the council, said: “These five sites were identified because they are in prime positions next to the tram route, which should increase their value. The council has a duty to the public to get the best deal and working with the EDI Group will ensure that the maximum financial potential is realised."

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
