There have been no DLR services between Westferry and West India Quay all week because of “additional” engineering works, it is expected that services will resume as normally on Monday (2nd June). These works are necessary because a bridge at Poplar was discovered to need more work than originally thought for the three car upgrade.
Howard Smith, Chief Operating Officer for London Rail, said: “During engineering works over the weekend to prepare the DLR network for three carriage trains, engineers working on a bridge at Poplar identified additional works would be needed this week. We are working hard to ensure that these works are completed as soon as possible and would like to apologise to passengers for any disruption that passengers will experience."
Trains have been operating as follows:
* Stratford to Lewisham every 5 minutes
* Canary Wharf to Lewisham every 10 minutes
* Tower Gateway to Beckton every 7 minutes
* Bank to King George V via London City Airport every 4 minutes
No replacement bus services were provided with passengers being advised to plan their journey and change. Those travelling to Canary Wharf from Bank were told to change at Westferry and walk the short distance to Canary Wharf and those travelling south towards Lewisham from Bank were advised to change at Poplar. The Jubilee line to Canary Wharf and Stratford and South Eastern services for Greenwich and Lewisham were also suggested.
