CARDIFF 21 TO VISIT CRICH IN 2009
Crich Tramway Village – Sunday 29th June 2008

The exciting news to report is that horse tramcar Cardiff 21 is to visit the Crich Tramway Village – home of the National Tramway Museum – for a period during the 2009 season. The tram is currently stored out of public viewing at the Collections Centre of the National Museum of Wales Maritime and Transport Department but should visit Crich between April and October 2009.

The tram is a 4 wheel open top, unvestibuled horse tram and was built in 1886. It was operated by the Cardiff Tramways Company running on the Cathays route in the city. Following withdrawal from service it spent 50 years in use as a tea bar before being donated to the National Museum of Wales in 1971. It was then restored, with this being completed in 1983. It is completed in a creamy yellow and white livery with red lining. A photo is available here on the British Horse Tram Enthusiasts website.

The tram will be unable to operate in service but should be displayed at times during the year, alongside fellow Welsh capital tram Cardiff 131 which is of course currently being restored.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
