IS LIVINGSTONE GOING COOL ON THE WEST LONDON TRAM?
West London Tram – Thursday 5th July 2007

It is reported that Mayor of London Ken Livingstone may be going cool on the plans for the West London Tram – this is after he appeared on an ITV programme last week saying if Crossrail is approved then the West London Tram may be ditched.

Speaking on the London Debate he said: “If we get Crossrail we will review whether or not we proceed with the tram."

The news that he seems to be cooling on the idea has pleased Councillors in the area. Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, leader of Hammersmith and Fulham Council, commented: “This is the first sign of a wobble from the Mayor on the Uxbridge Road tram. Until last week his blinkered approach meant that he was not prepared to listen to other transport solutions. This council, along with the vast majority of local residents, has been saying for years that the tram will cause misery for commuters by effectively closing down Uxbridge Road. At last it seems we may be starting to get through to him."
