LAUNCH OF PINK TRAM AT SEATON CONFIRMED
Seaton Tramway – Sunday 22nd July 2007
As reported on British Trams Online a few weeks ago, the Seaton Tramway are to launch a pink tram into service from Friday 27th July. This move has come about because of the success of a Lledo tram model recently released in the tramway’s shop in the colour of pink.
Jenny Nunn, Managing Director of Seaton Tramway, said: “The demand for the models has been so great, we decided to do the real thing. Pink being the true embodiment of elegance should show to all our visitors that we cater for all colour preferences with our fleet of trams. Everyone has entered into the spirit of the big pink event and even the driver will be colour-coordinated on the launch day.”
The official launch will take place at the Seaton terminus on Friday 27th July at 1130 and anyone passengers dressed totally in pink will get a ride to Colyton and back (seats are limited) and be invited to partake of perfect pink refreshments free of charge as a unique way of celebrating the “pinkness”.
Breast Cancer Care have been invited to attend the launch and a much loved celebrity (not ye named) has been secured to make the official launch. The Coly River Jazz Band are to escort the pink tram en-route between Seaton and Colyton.
On arrival at the northern terminus the Colyton Christmas Fayre committee have arranged for a release of pink balloons as the tram arrives. These will be sold for £1 a go with the balloon going the furthest winning a prize of a Hot Air Balloon ride. Tickets for this Balloon race are available from shops, restaurants, accommodation providers in Colyton and the Seaton Tramway shops – all funds go to the Colyton Christmas Fayre which takes place 5-9 December 2007.
No mention is made of which of the trams will be inflicted with the pink paint.
* The Lledo Pink Tram model which has caused Seaton to believe this to be a good idea is now on sale of the Seaton Tramway shops with £1 of each sale going towards Breast Cancer Care and local charities. For more details contact the Seaton Tramway direct through their website (details below) – I could not find the Pink tram on their online shop.
