RUTH KELLY BECOMES SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORT
General – Sunday 1st July 2007

In the recent Cabinet reshuffle by new Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Ruth Kelly has been moved to become the new Secretary of State for Transport. She replaces Douglas Alexander who becomes Secretary of State for International Development.

Ms Kelly was previously Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and Minister for Women from May 2006. She is married with a son and three daughters and became MP for Bolton in the 1997 General Election.

The other members of the Ministerial team remains as Dr Stephen Ladyman, Gillian Merron and Tom Harris.
