GLASS BREAKS ON CROYDON TRAM
Croydon Tramlink – Sunday 22nd July 2007

A tram has to be withdrawn from service on Croydon Tramlink on Wednesday 18th July after the glass in a door broke whilst it was heading to Wimbledon at Belgrave Walk. It is not known what caused the glass to break.

The tram carried on to Wimbledon and on the return journey was terminated at Therapia Lane before heading to depot, whilst a replacement tram was pressed into service.

Roger Harding, General Manager of Tramtrack, said: “We have protected plastic covering on our doors so they won't shatter. This meant the driver could carry on towards Wimbledon and get back as far as Therapia Lane, avoiding a service problem for those passengers. We do not know exactly what caused it."
