NEW SUMMER TIMETABLE STARTS OPERATION IN BLACKPOOL
Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway – Sunday 15th July 2007

The Summer 2007 timetable on the Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway has now started (it started on Monday 9th July) and sees one of the biggest timetable changes for many years with an increased Saturday service now in operation (this commenced yesterday – Saturday 14th July).

The Monday to Friday service is now scheduled for operation by double deckers and features the traditional 20 minute Starr Gate to Fleetwood and 20 minute Pleasure Beach to Cleveleys service. On Tuesdays this is altered to have a 10 minute service to Fleetwood (although the only mention of this on the official timetable is the vague wording “Tuesdays Only from 1000-1400 there will be extra trams from Fleetwood to Blackpool” – and this is only the southbound timetable not the northbound one!)

Saturdays is when it gets interesting with the more frequent trams timetabled. Trams will operate every 7/8 minutes between Cleveleys and Pleasure Beach between 0900 and 1830 with every other serving Fleetwood and Starr Gate. After this time the traditional 20 minute frequency resumes. It appears that nine trams will be in use on Fleetwood service and five on the Cleveleys service during the main part of the day (the 20 minute service requires seven and four).

Sundays remain as a 20 minute operation on both services.

The timetable is scheduled to operate until Sunday 28th October and then a different timetable is likely to be in use for one week for the final week of the Illuminations before the tramway closes for the winter.

* The new timetables are now available on the Blackpool Transport website here (unfortunately they are still not PDF files).
