UNOFFICIAL BLACKPOOL TRAMWAY 125 WEBSITE LAUNCHED
Blackpool Tramway 125 – Sunday 24th January 2010

An unofficial website celebrating 125 years of the Blackpool Tramway was launched earlier this month – a joint venture between British Trams Online and Tramways Monthly. The website can be found at http://www.blackpooltramway125.co.uk and aims to provide all the latest news and updates as the tramway prepares for 125th Anniversary celebrations in September.

But that’s not all that the website will be providing! There will be extensive coverage of the events as they unfold (this should include photos not used on either BTO or TM), profiles of the visiting and resident tramcars taking place in the events, information and photos from previous tram events in the resort and in the future much, much more.

Why an Unofficial site when there is an official one?
The question most of you will be asking is why has this unofficial site been created when an official site is also in existence. Well the answer is quite straightforward! The BTO/TM website has been in development for almost 18 months and this was before there was any indication that an official site would be created (and as previous tram events – and also many similar transport related events – across the UK had not had a comprehensive website it did not even cross our minds there would be one!) Once it was revealed that there would be a comprehensive official site on the events too much time, effort and most importantly expenditure has been put into the unofficial site to just scrap the plans. The decision was taken by the BTO and TM teams to carry on for these very reasons.

* For the record the official website can be found at http://www.blackpooltramevents.co.uk.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
