WORKSHOP PROGRESS AT CRICH
Crich Tramway Village – Sunday 11th January 2009

The actual Museum at Crich may be closed but that does not mean progress is not continuing behind the scenes in the Workshop with general and heavier maintenance of the tram fleet taking place. Click the link below to read about a productive day for Blackpool Electric Locomotive 717 and news on London United Tramways 159.

Blackpool Loco 717 has been lifted, put back onto its wheels, brakes connected, lifeguard equipment fitted and the trolley (apart from the head) fitted.

The dry assembly of one set of side frames for LUT 159 has been commenced to establish the next course of machining. This has established that some previous new parts which were made to suit the old worn frames require some more machining (but not a lot).

Blackpool Electric Locomotive 717 is lifted. This image is taken at 1030 after the jacks had been positioned and the loco lifted ready to receive its wheels/motor units.

In this second shot – taken at the end of the day on Saturday 10th January 2009 – the loco is seen back on the ground and reassembled with just electric work to be completed.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
