BLACKPOOL & FLEETWOOD TRAMWAY NEWS ROUND-UP
Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway – Sunday 13th January 2008

We report on the latest progress in the workshops at Rigby Road including news on the restoration of Western Train 733+734.

The Western Train Locomotive 733 is now in the Body Shop with new flooring being laid after the body sections were transferred to the new underframe back on 9th October. The remains of Railcoach 209 (the original basis of the Locomotive) and Twin Towing Car 677 have now been disposed of with the new body of 733 being made up of one saloon from the Twin Car and the original boiler.

The Western Train Carriage 734 is also currently in the Body Shop having moved from the Electrical Compound on 17th December 2007. The tram has now been re-panelled externally with interior woodwork now also being refitted after the stripping of the old green paint. It now awaits re-varnishing.

Elsewhere, Balloon 712 is back in the main Depot after it was released from the Body Shop on 17th December. It had been receiving body repairs following its collision with Centenary 643 back on 4th November 2007. The paintwork has been touched up and it is not planned for the tram to receive a full repaint. 643 awaits its turn for repairs.
