Seaton End of Season Gala October 2007
Making its British Trams Online debut is the unique Seaton Tramway - which runs at a gauge of 2'9". All these photos were taken on Day One of the two day 2007 End of Season Gala on 27th October 2007 when most trams - including the works car - make appearances with an extensive service operated as well as behind the scenes tours of the depot. This enabled views of current overhaul tram number 7 as well as those trams not in use on the day and also out the back of the depot a possible Seaton 15 - an unrestored Bournemouth 101. Over the next 16 pages there are 47 photos for you - I hope - to enjoy. As ever you can access the photos by using the links at either the top or bottom of the page.

At the back of the depot is this little gem, part of the works fleet is 01 which is now in use as a staff wagon trailer. It started off life as a Boat car to 2' gauge before being converted to a works car in 1960 and then to a mobile shop in 1965. The tram was regauged in 1973 and carried on its duties as shop at the Seaton terminus until the new layout was opened in 1995. At this stage it was converted into the staff wagon trailer as seen in this depot view.
The main Works Car 02 is seen here arriving back at Depot following a morning "out and about". This vehicle dates from 1952 when it was initially built for the Air Ministry.
Making a second apperance of the day in the afternoon 02 is seen at Colyford. After the Air Ministry decided they had no use for this vehicle it moved to Eastbourne before being regauged for use at Seaton in 1968. It powered itself until 1981 when it became a trailer before regaining motors in 1992.
02 again at Colyford. This view shows the plunger which has to be pressed to enable the level crossing at this location to be put into use. It is a non barrier crossing with flasing lights and an audible warning and enables one tram at a time to cross.
