Gallery 481: Blackpool August Bank Holiday Weekend Heritage Operation

The final daytime operation of the heritage fleet in Blackpool for 2014 took place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend (23rd-25th August) with three trams running in service for the first time this year, one of which made its debut on the upgraded tramway. This collection features photos from the Saturday and Monday of the heritage operation with the first day seeing the Open trams take control (Princess Alice and the three Boat Cars, including the return to service of 227 after electrical repairs were completed) plus Pantograph 167 ran on a special evening tour whilst the Monday saw the return to service of popular Coronation 304 - the first time since tramway upgrade. Also in service on this third day was Balloon 701 (now back in its Routemaster Red and White livery, although still needing lining to complete the repaint) and Centenary 648 with Pantograph 167 making its farewell trip ahead of a return home to the Crich Tramway Village. All the above trams - plus a couple of others - are included in this gallery.

Photographs in this collection were taken by Steve Kemp & Ian Nightingale
