The Best of Sheffield was celebrated at the Crich Tramway Village between Saturday 17th and Friday 23rd May. Although not specifically targetted at tram enthusiasts' this event saw the relaunch into service of Sheffield 510 following overhaul (on Saturday 17th May) and on the first two days of the event also saw an extensive electric tram service in operation. As if that wasn't enough horse car Sheffield 15 was also in use for three days (17th, 18th and 21st May). This collection of photos mainly features images from Saturday 17th May when there were seven different trams in passenger service: Sheffield cars 15, 74 and 510, Chesterfield 7, Blackpool cars 166 and 236 and Glasgow 1068 whilst Sheffield Works 330 ran demonstration runs and Sheffield 189 was on display on the Traverser. This day also saw a visit by the Wirksworth Assessment Trial which saw a number of vintage steam vehicles pause for lunch at the Museum and in addition there were several other vehicles on display throughout the day including buses with a Sheffield connection. As well as photos from the first day we also have further images from Sunday 18th and Wednesday 21st May.
Photographs in this collection were taken by Dan Brothwell, Keith Chadbourne, Peter Narramore, Gareth Prior & Hazel Quarmby.
