Gallery 436: Farewell to the Manchester Metrolink T68s

Monday 3rd February 2014 saw the end of an era reached on Manchester Metrolink as the last passenger journeys by a T68 took place when 1007 and 1022 worked as a pair on the Bury-Altrincham direct service. Considering the reason that they were being withdrawn was because of reliability problems it was perhaps inevitable that the end would be accelerated by a failure but that is what happened at Bury with the dreaded compressor fault ending almost 22 years of service for the class in Manchester. To commemorate the end of the T68s (two of the T68As will carry on for now) we bring you a collection of photos of all 26 of the class at work across the Metrolink network. Each LRV is featured at least twice with the majority of the images coming in the last few years of their careers but we are also able to bring you some earlier images. Thanks for the memories T68s!

Photographs in this collection were taken by Norman Broom, David Holt, Steve Hyde, Steve Kemp, Ian Nightingale, Nigel Pennick & Gareth Prior
