Gallery 307: Blackpool Tramway June 2012
There was a time that this gallery would have been called "Totally Transport Weekend" with a tram tour on the Saturday and then lots of traditional trams running through to Starr Gate on the Sunday but the weekend in 2012 was just like any other early summer weekend. With it not possible to run any tram tours on the Saturday and with Totally Transport bascially becoming a bus rally/classic car event which just happens to have a tramway running alongside it the whole weekend is like any other which has occured in Blackpol during the early summer of 2012. There are some who have criticised Blackpool Transport for not attempting to extend the heritage service through to Starr Gate but in all honestly why should they? An extension to Starr Gate would have meant the advertised timetable could not have been operated and an extra tram would have had to be added into the mix with the extra costs associated with that. This gallery starts off on a very wet Friday 22nd June when the Olympic Torch was making its way to Blackpool and we feature an image of the tram which was to be used during the relay but unfortunately due to the weather we don't have any photos of the actual torch on board the tram. We then carry on with the following two days including images of the both the Flexities in service and those trams utilised on the heritage service. To access the photos click on the relevant thumbnail and you can then either navigate from there or return to this page and click on your next one!

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
