The annual Great North Steam Fair at Beamish, the Living Museum of the North took place between 12th and 15th April with the usual mix of visiting vintage vehicles alongside the resident fleet. For the tram enthusiast this year there were several highlights with the visit of Birkenhead 20 from the Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society, the debut of Blackpool Boat 233 following its loan from the Lancastrian Transport Trust and British Trams Online sponsored repaint and the use of Sunderland 101 (Blackpool Balloon 703) in service. Of course the event is not just about the trams and there was plenty of other action around Beamish including the use of Captain Baxter on the Rowley railway, Beamish's own Newcastle Trolleybus 501 on display having returned from its holidays and many other steam vehicles in operation around the site. This gallery mainly features photos of the trams from both the first day of the event (Thursday 12th) and day three (Saturday 14th) but we also show you the other sights of the event so you can get the full flavour of what happens at one of Beamish's transport events. Hopefully if you haven't been to one of these events before these photos will make you keen to visit soon!
