‘HMS Blackpool’ 736 didn’t set sail on the promenade until 28th August, when it replaced Boat 600 on a Fylde Tramway Society tour due to inclement weather, until it too was replaced after suffering a fault. Thankfully it proved a lot more reliable when the illuminations switched on, and it operated almost daily until the close of the season, sometimes running in normal service after tour duty. There were even a few opportunities to ride on 736 backwards, which had previously been a very rare event as it only has entrance/exit doors on one side! The tram is seen at North Pier having just arrived from depot for another evening on illumination tours.
