Heaton Park Tramway: A Celebration of the British Works Car
The Heaton Park Tramway held a special event on Sunday 30th November 2008 entitled “A Celebration of the British Works Car”. This event saw the debut in preservation of Blackpool Railgrinder 752 which had only moved across from the coast a few days previously. In addition Leeds 6 was officially launched into service with its new identity (the tram has been known in preservation as Hull 96) following a year out of service undergoing overhaul – 6 is its works car identity having been converted in Leeds after purchase from Hull. The passenger service was mainly provided by Manchester 765 and Manchester Eades Reversible Horse Tram L53 was also on display, completing the Heaton Park collection. The day saw a Tram Driving Experience on 752, a book launch, a regular tram service, demonstration runs and a cavalcade to name but a few of the events of the day. This gallery features several shots from the day from British Trams Online Webmaster Gareth Prior and then for the evening shoot Tony Waddington. A full article on the days events – written by Andrew Waddington can be found here.
