2537 arriving at Mitcham Junction en route to New Addington on route 3. In heavy rail days, trains ran through the adjacent National Rail station still served by Thameslink trains between Sutton and Luton and Bedford but on opening of Thameslink in 2000, the trams were diverted into two new platforms built alongside, all physical connections between the two systems being removed. East of Mitcham Junction a new bridge was constructed to take the trams across the Thameslink line and resembles something of a roller coaster.
