PLANS FOR ISLE OF MAN TRANSPORT MUSEUM BACK ON TRACK
Isle of Man – Sunday 15th February 2009

Isle of Man Chief Minister, Tony Brown, seems to have intervened in the saga of the Vintage Transport Museum which could see the plans back on track. Previously a £50,000 rent was to be charged on the site at Jurby to the Department of Tourism and Leisure from fellow government department – the Department of Local Government and the Environment – but this now looks to be reduced to a minimal rent.

Chief Minister, Tony Brown, instigated talks between the departments and the DTL will now rent a hangar at Jurby – a former RAF airfield in the north of the Isle of Man – from the DGE for a nominal charge.

Manx Transport Trust chairman Richard Davis, said: “It’s good news the government departments have managed to agree among themselves. After all, it’s not money going outside of government.”

The museum is due to open this summer and will restore and show off 25 historic government and privately owned trams and buses.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
