PAY FREEZE FOR EDINBURGH TRAMS STAFF It has been reported that all staff involved in the Edinburgh Trams project have been told they will not be getting a pay rise in the current financial year because of the ongoing situation with the progress in bringing trams back to the streets of the Scottish capital. Chief Executive Richard Jeffrey has also stated that no bonuses have been paid out since he took charge in April 2009.
Mr Jeffrey said: “Our staff work incredibly hard, have to deal with an inordinate amount of pressure at times and are under constant scrutiny from the public and media - so the decision was not made lightly. A pay freeze was instigated to reflect the current status of the project and our ability to fund any increase. I also felt this was in tune with the outside world. The major factor affecting the decision not to award bonuses this year was the overall performance of the project in relation to the cost and time targets. This does not mean that no bonus will ever be achievable, and it's my belief that staff deserve, and are indeed entitled to, these bonuses if targets are reached."

| British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email. |
