TWO HORSES USED ON MANCHESTER L53 FOR THE FIRST TIME
Heaton Park Tramway – Thursday 30th April 2009

Manchester Eades Reversible Horse Tramcar L53 ran for the first time with two horses on Sunday 26th April at the Heaton Park Tramway. The horses were provided by Latham Shires Ltd from Atherton in Lancashire and enabled extended operation to the edge of the reserved track as there was power to pull the car up the hill for the first time. It is now planned for two horses to haul L53 in service on Sunday 2nd May.

Blackpool Railgrinder 752 has had a new floor fitted and work is underway to fit it out as a mobile workshop. Some investigation is also underway to trace a suspected traction motor fault. Work has been carried out on the resistor banks to try to even out the notching.

Leeds 6 is currently covering the passenger service whilst Manchester 765 is prepared for operation.

Two photos showing the operation of Manchester L53 with two horses for the first time in preservation. The first photo shows the tram on a test run whilst the second one shows passengers on board for a run.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
