PHOTO REPORT: EASTER IN BLACKPOOL
Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway – Sunday 26th April 2009

The Easter weekend is traditionally the start of more interesting trams making appearances on the Blackpool and Fleetwood Tramway, and 2009 was no different. As well as the Balloons, Boats, “vintage” trams and Illuminated trams were also in use – including 602 (apparently mothballed but used due to the failure of sister 605) and Illuminated Frigate 736 (being used on specials because the advertisers – Royal Navy – wish to see “their” tram out and about more regularly).

Following a request by the Royal Navy - advertisers on the tram - Illuminated Frigate 736 is to see more use on specials in 2009. The tram made its debut on normal specials on Easter Monday 13th April and is seen here at Tower on its way to Little Bispham.

Just a day after the webmaster of British Trams Online questioned whether Boat 602 would ever run on Blackpool prom again what happened? Yes, that’s right it was used on specials (because of a fault with sister 605). It is seen here at Tower on its way to Pleasure Beach. The tram has since been remothballed following repairs to 605.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
