BEAMISH TRAM CHALLENGE 2009
Beamish Tramway – Sunday 19th April 2009

Details have been launched of the now annual “Beamish Tram Challenge” where you can race a tram round the circuit at Beamish, the north of England Open Air Museum! A 1.5 mile “Fun Run” matches men against machine with runners trying to beat the tram around one lap of the track that circles the museum site and there is also a longer run for the more experienced runners.

As well as the 1.5 mile “Fun Run” there is a Multi-Terrain Race giving the opportunity to race the tram around one circuit of the track then follow scenic trails and paths through the Museum grounds – a total of around 9km.

A trophy is presented for the first to beat the tram in each race and there are prizes in all categories and a memento for all finishers.

The aim of the Challenge is to raise funds to enable disadvantaged children from throughout the region to experience all that Beamish has to offer and learn about the North East’s heritage. Any runners raising over £50 in sponsorship will receive a free Beamish Unlimited Pass entitling them to free visits for a full year.

Places are limited with the entry form available to download here and further details (including who to contact for any additional information) can be found at the link below.

British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email.
