LIVINGSTONE ATTACKS TRAMTRACK CROYDON AGAIN Never one to miss a chance to criticise those he doesn’t like, current Mayor of London Ken Livingstone has attacked Tramtrack Croydon Limited claiming they were only ever interested in taking money from Tramlink and not developing or investing in it. Mr Livingstone made these comments on his visit to Croydon last week (also reported last week) when he said that now TfL were taking control of Tramlink many extensions would be considered.
He said: “Possibilities have been kicked around, including a line from Streatham to Coulsdon. Now we've taken over Croydon's Tramlink it's all back on, we can start considering them. The company which ran Croydon's trams was not interested in developing or investing in them. It just wanted to milk its cash cow. The Croydon trams are vital to the hundreds of thousands of Londoners who use them, but Tramlink has been allowed to gradually fall into disrepair. If I'm re-elected we're going to have an improved Sunday service, refurbish and upgrade the trams, have better timetables and clean up the stations."

| British Trams Online is an enthusiast run website for enthusiasts. It should be able to be viewed at all screen resolutions but I do advise you that it is probably best at 1024x768. The site is owned, maintained (and in the main written) by Gareth Prior. Any comments or suggestions please email. |
