Another “wires down” incident on Midland Metro on Friday afternoon, April 11. Car 04 heading for Birmingham Snow Hill and car 12 heading for Wolverhampton both involved. Both lost their pantographs just north of Handsworth Booth Street, cause unknown.
The service was initially suspended between Black Lake and Birmingham, later trams operated as far as West Bromwich when 12 was cleared away by the Unimog. At 17:30 no-one had updated the Midland Metro website, still showing “all clear” from Thursday 10 April.
In another incident on Midland Metro this week a lorry became wedged under a bridge – the same bridge as last week – with trams having to be suspended for a time. Trams were stopped for around half an hour after parts of the bridge fell onto the road when the incident occurred at around 0930 on Thursday 10th April.
Car 12 parked at the Hawthorns. The yellow jackets in the distance are the site of the trouble.
